Professional Life
I had zero exposure to Unix-based operating systems until I installed Ubuntu on my personal device in 2020. Now I work with servers for a living.
Before 2020, I worked a wide variety of jobs, from janitor to machinist. All of them were physically demanding. Tech has been a change of pace for sure! I miss moving around and lifting things at work, but working on servers does a good job of scratching that problem-solving itch in my brain.
Misc Facts
- I'm trans 🏳️⚧️
- I'm not named after the Greek muse of epic poetry, but after the steam-powered pipe organ that's made from scavenged locomotive whistles.
- Favorite plant: Sunflower
- Favorite month: August
- Love: Distant rumbling stormclouds, the sound of buzzing cicadas, humid evenings, midnight walks, fireflies, dust devils, streetlamps surrounded by swarms of flitting insects, the year's first southwind, heatwaves on the horizon, late rainy nights at the bar with friends, a warm fire outdoors, fresh soup, autumn winds, long flowing skirts and bright summer dresses, gentle rain over mounds of fallen acorns and bright red maple leaves and spiky sweet gumball husks, clear moving sheets of powdery snow gently carried by the wind over a crumbling parking lot, curling up with a loved one while the weather howls outside, shoes.
Calliope Daemon - Situs Inversus, or About This Website
I work in web hosting. I mostly spend my weeknights fixing wordpress sites. Because of that, I wanted my personal site to have nothing to do with wordpress or its accursed software stack.
So I created callioped. She's programmed in C, using no external dependencies. She exists to lovingly deliver html to your browser. She's my digitized reflection. She's a southpaw and her heart beats on the right side of her chest. Please treat her with love and kindness. You can view her source code here!
